The Fundamentals of Tourism and Ecotourism certificate, certified by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany, is a six-month blended program worth 15 ECTS. It is practical and designed for you if you are interested in sustainable tourism, ecotourism, community development, or responsible travel.
In this program, you will learn how tourism works, why people travel, how places become tourist destinations, and how tourism can support or harm local communities and the environment. You will also learn about sustainability, ecotourism principles, international guidelines, marketing, digital tools including AI, and community-based tourism ideas.
You will complete three courses: Introduction to Tourism and Ecotourism, Ecotourism and Sustainability, and Marketing and Promotion in Ecotourism. Through reflections, case studies, practical tasks, and project work, you will slowly develop your own ecotourism concept or campaign.
This program is a good choice for you if you are ready to learn actively, think carefully, use digital tools, and develop tourism ideas that respect people, protect the planet, and respond to real community needs. By the end of the program, you will not only understand tourism better, you will also be able to design and promote responsible tourism ideas for your own context.
No previous experience in tourism is required. To apply, you need a high school diploma, English at B1 level, and a real interest in sustainable tourism. Because this is a blended program, you also need regular access to a device such as a notebook/laptop, tablet, or smartphone. You will use it to join online learning activities, complete assignments, communicate, and work with digital tools.
