Do you believe that people deserve a voice and that communities can become stronger through dialogue, fairness, and inclusion?
The Reimagining Democratic Foundations for Peace certificate, certified by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany, is a six-month program worth 20 ECTS. It is designed for you if you care about peace, human rights, democracy, civic engagement, and the role of culture, religion, governance, and political economy in building societies that are more just.
This program helps you understand how democratic values can support peace and justice. You will explore important questions: What do human rights mean in different contexts? How can cultural and religious diversity support peace? How do political and economic decisions affect development and conflict? How can citizens participate more actively in democratic life?
You will study four courses: Foundations of Human Rights, Cultural and Religious Diversity, Governance and Political Economy of Development, and Democracy and Civic Engagement. Through readings, discussions, reflections, and practical assignments, you will learn to think critically, communicate clearly, and develop ideas that can support peaceful and democratic communities.
This program is a good choice for you if you are ready to listen, reflect, discuss difficult topics respectfully, and work with people from different backgrounds. You do not need to see leadership as power. In this program, leadership means building trust, creating space for others to be heard, and helping people work together across differences.
By the end of the program, you will be better prepared to take part in important discussions, support civic engagement, understand political and social challenges more deeply, and contribute to peace-building in your own community.
To apply, you need to be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma, and have English at B1 level. Priority is given to graduates of the Peace Leader program, but other motivated applicants are also welcome. Because this program includes online learning, you also need regular access to a device such as a notebook/laptop, tablet, or smartphone. What matters most is your commitment to dialogue, justice, democratic values, and peaceful change.
