Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already changing how we learn, work, communicate, and make decisions. Do you want to understand it instead of only using it?
The Ethical and Effective AI Use certificate, certified by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Germany, is a six-month, practice-oriented program worth 15 ECTS. It is designed for you if you want to understand Artificial Intelligence, use AI tools more responsibly, and think critically about their impact on people and society.
This program does not only teach you how to use AI tools. It helps you ask better questions: How does AI work? When can it be helpful? When can it be risky? How can AI affect fairness, privacy, work, education, democracy, culture, and human dignity?
You will study three courses: Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, and Societal Implications of the Introduction of Artificial Intelligence. In these courses, you will explore different types of AI, work with real examples, discuss ethical dilemmas, and complete short analytical tasks, reflections, and practical assignments.
You will also learn how to identify bias, think carefully about technology, and make informed decisions when using AI tools. More importantly, you will develop the confidence to use AI in a way that reflects your values and supports positive change in your studies, career, and community.
This program is especially important for people from underrepresented and marginalized communities, because everyone should have a voice in shaping the future of technology. You do not need to be an AI specialist. No technical experience is required. What matters most is curiosity, critical thinking, and the desire to understand AI beyond simple excitement or fear.
By the end of the program, you will be better prepared to use AI tools in learning, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. You will also be able to recognize both the opportunities and the risks of AI in your own context.
To apply, you need a high school diploma or previous university credits, English at B1 level, and an interest in how technology is changing learning, work, and society. Because this program includes digital learning and practical work with AI tools, you also need regular access to a device such as a notebook/laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
